Melting Reality

About Us

EMIXAR was founded by Stefan Göppel and is driven by an international team of artists, tech enthusiasts, and art experts.
With over 15 years of experience in the XR field, we are among the global pioneers at the intersection of art and extended reality.
Our team develops innovative tools and formats for digital art mediation — including virtual brushes, digital spaces, and interactive exhibits.
We see ourselves at the forefront of a movement that's redefining how art is experienced — radically and immersively.

What is XR?

Extended Reality (XR) is an umbrella term for a range of immersive technologies that aim to merge the physical and digital worlds. It includes Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) — each offering unique ways to interact with digital content. These are the core components of XR

What is VR?

VR fully immerses you in a digital environment. By wearing a VR headset, you enter a completely virtual world where everything you see and hear is computer-generated.

What is Augmented Reality?

AR overlays the real world with digital content, enhancing your perception of reality. Using devices like smartphones, tablets, or AR glasses, you can see digital images, information, or animations superimposed onto your physical surroundings.

What is MR?

MR blends the physical and digital worlds more seamlessly than AR or VR. In MR experiences, digital objects don’t just appear in your real environment — they interact with it in real time. This concept draws on the idea of the “virtuality continuum” and the definition of “mixed reality” introduced by Paul Milgram and Fumio Kishino in 1994.

World Premiere:
EMIXAR Continuum Launches a Multi-Reality Art Exhibition

From November 27 to December 7, 2024, EMIXAR Continuum – Extended Reality Art Exhibition celebrated its world premiere at the Schwere Reiter venue in Munich. Created by the extended reality studio govar GmbH, the exhibition offered an immersive art experience that combines cutting-edge XR technology with the stimulation of all five senses, enabling visitors to interact with entirely new realities.

As part of a touring exhibition with upcoming stops in New York, Mexico City, and Vienna, visitors embark on a walk-through experience wearing an XR headset. By blending physical artworks with interactive digital overlays, EMIXAR Continuum presents a completely new way to experience art.

The goal of EMIXAR Continuum is, in the words of Stefan Göppel, CEO of govar GmbH and lead producer of the XR experience, “to push the boundaries of imagination through digital and playful elements. With state-of-the-art technology, we create entirely new experiences and evoke powerful emotions — especially curiosity and joy.”

During the exhibition tour, guests wear XR headsets. As they observe the physical artworks, virtual art objects, spaces, and portals appear in their field of view. Through the use of next-generation XR technology, visitors experience a seamless fusion of multiple realities. Additionally, they have the opportunity to purchase both physical artworks and their associated NFTs.

Our Artist Lineup:

Michael Acapulco, Ugo Dossi, and a holographic dance performance by Hikaru Osakabe will be brought together in a world premiere in Munich, blending with real artworks by Tatiana Busch, Holger Dreissig, Fabian Feichter, Susu Gorth, Mari Iwamoto, Jan Kuck, and Gotlind Timmermanns will be experienced within a virtual setting.
