A becoming body — an XR choreography between death and rebirth

OYA is a 13-minute mixed-reality installation by Tobias Staab, created with Berlin-based artist and dancer Black Pearl de Almeida Lima. Departing from her own history, it interweaves moving-image material from 2020 and 2025 with a digitally constructed visual language: the dancer appears as a
holographic presence between the layers of a mixed reality, until "recorded" and "rendered", "remembered" and "present" dissolve. "We do not yet know what a body can do." (Spinoza)

Director & Writer: Tobias Staab · Performance: Black Pearl de Almeida Lima · Technical Direction: Stefan Göppel (govar) · 3D: Warja Rybakova · Komposition: Heiko Tubbesing · Teil der EMIXAR-Reihe, gefördert vom Berliner Senat

From installation to your own experience

Dance is no longer something to watch. What begins as an artwork in OYA opens up into participation — an experience you shape with your own body.

The participatory dance experience growing out of OYA

EVERY BODY DANCE NOW (EDN) is a unique XR dance experience that brings together subcultural dance forms, digital art, and playful interactive elements.EDN.ALPHA, the interactive XR prototype, was completed in spring 2026. From October 2026 we develop EDN.BETA — the full version on the way to the first truly immersive dance experience in XR: with training and action modes, multiplayer, and a growing global dance community. Alone or together, beginner or professional.
The prototype was developed with Visual Vitamin and is financially supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and FFF Bayern.

Let's dance together

We're building a new form of experience — one that moves. To realize EDN.BETA we're looking for partners, supporters, and collaborators. Get in touch.
